Surnames: Spacek-Povejsil (now Poe)
I am hunting down the clan of Julia C. Spacek of Cleveland, Ohio and of her husband John Povejsil. They had two sons circa 1920, one of whom is my father.
I know Julia had several sisters, one of whom was from the "old country", but I do not have any of their names. I understand that both Julia's mother and father came over from Moravia. He later abandoned her (or vice versa) and washed clothes for a living.
The Povejsil clan is much larger. My great grandparents did not speak English, only Czech. He had a farm outside cleveland, built homes (I believe) and was a draft evader in one of the austro-hungarian wars! This is how he arrived to the United States! I know he was from Bohemia, possibly even outside Prague. The only great uncle whose name I know was Jaro (Jaroslav?) and was not only sent to some relatives out west to sheep farm during the depression for being incorrigible and a drunkard but was desinherited. No one, we understand knew more of him.
If anyone has any information about either branches, please email me cheryl@wanadoo.es
I do not seek family ties, but some kind of history to make a family tree.
I live in Spain.
I hope someone can help.

I am married to a Peter Spacek. His father is from the Pragu area...and hardly speaks english. The rest of his family is still in Pragu, but your connection maybe an uncle or such. squartermain@rogers.com
