Hello to all!
I am an Australian, trying to find information regarding my Great-Grandfather, born in Prague (referred to by my family as a Bohemian). He was born in the 1890's , his Parents were in stage/theatre and his Godfather was the great Czech' Composer "Dvorak"!.
He migrated to Australia (via America and England) at around the age of 15yrs. He had a ticket to board the Titanic, but quite literally missed the ship!. He fought in WW1 (having given a false age) for either the Australian or British Army (I'm not sure), and was discovered (late in life) to have had Tuberculosis. He died (I think) in the 1980's in Victoria, Australia.
Does anyone know anything more about him, and even more so, whether or not I have any distant Czech relatives.
I shall most eagerly, and with great anticipation, await a reply.
Thankyou to all, kindest regards
Amanda H

Amanda-my husband's grandpa was Richard Henry Spacek. His parents were Anton and Anna Bracun Spacek. They were with the theatres also in what was then Austria. They are Slovenian but I can't find any info about them. Gpa was born in 1877 in northeastern Slovenia/Austria. He was to have had several other brothers and sisters but the only one we know of was a sister who came over and she married another slovene. Your query caught my eye because of the theatre connection. Good luck with your search as I have had a tough time finding anything in the old countries. Stephanie

Classification: Query
Surnames: Spacek, Holubec, Kuchynka, Matheaus
My GM was a Holubec married to a Matheaus. GM's sister Veronika married Josef Spacek. They had 7 children and as a matter their only living child just turned 100 we had a little party for her. I am just getting into their genealogy but will try to help as much as I can.
