Looking for the parentage of Jacob Sowers who died in Frederick Co. VA in 1785, his wife at that time was a Mary. He could have been the emigrate from Germany.

I have a copy of his will which names his children.

I submitted to the L.D.S. library in book form my notes on the family as of 1991. I have learned more about the family and posting new information on Michael's web page. You can view my book on film through L.D.S.library. I believe Handley Library in Wincheter, VA has a copy.

I have not tried to fnd the ancestry of your Anne E. Grubbs born 1834. You might want to have my marriage book for Clarke Co. VA Marriages 1865-1880. There are Grubbs listed that could be her siblings.

You will also find the surname in Frederick Co.VA. I have posted some messages on Michael's web page about various Grubbs.

I do have Brownley in my tree, but Michael does. I have some rather old address of other researchers working on that line. I believe you need to look at MD on that surname. The book dealing with Houses of Clarke Co. VA, has a bit on Archibald Brownley's house.

We have Mitchell ancestry in common in the couple: Cary & Frances Mitchell. I have not figured out his ancestry as of now. They had four children: Elizabeth (your line), James, John C. & Wm. Mitchell (my line). Our Mitchell family left lots of records in Frederick Co. VA. Found in my two Frederick Co. VA Will Books.
