Well this appears to be the first message from a
Canadian Sowden. My clan hails from the Cornwall
and Devon regions of England and from the
Southern regions of Wales. My Grandfather
Francis John Sowden)was brought to this
country as a Bernardo boy at the ripe old
age of 4. This was at the turn of the
century. He was given out as a farm labourer
in the Guelph, Ontario region where he remained
until enlisting in the Royal 20th Regiment
during WW1. He survived the war and
returned to Toronto Ontario where he remained
until his death in the 1970s. He raised
a family of 2 boys and 3 girls. One of which
was John Wilmont Sowden is my father. He raised
5 boys and 1 daughter. These in turn have done
there bit to increase the Sowden clan in Canada.
We currently number nearly 30 persons. All well
and contributing members of society.
