MANSFIELD Ohio: Joanie Sowash, beach lover, jewelry designer, seamstress, decorator, flower lover, wife, mom, sister, grandma, great grandma, and friend departed on the last leg of her life's journey Thursday September 12th, 2013.
She was one of six kids born to the late Howard and Reba Sunnucks January 23th,1932.
She will be joining her parents and late brothers Jim and Mike Sunnucks; sister-in law Harriet Sunnucks; and brother-in-law Kenny Leitenberger.
Left behind, husband, Al; daughter, Lori, son-in-law, Denny; twin brother Howard Jr.; and sister Sondra Leitenberger; sister-in-laws Joann and Karen Sunnucks.
Joan graduated from Ontario High School.
One of her greatest accomplishments was nabbing and marrying AL Sowash, February 10th, 11th, or 12th, 1956. Even with several trips to the courthouse, they could never remember the date.
The couple were blessed with a great group of friends. Together the gang had a ton of laughs.
In December of 1958 they were blessed again with a daughter Lori. Joanie was first a loving wife and mother, but also had a passion for decorating, sewing, fashion, beading, and planting a garden. All shared by her daughter and best friend, Lori. They had a ball together.
Besides her love for Al, Lori and Denny, her greatest joy was her grandkids Andy (Nicole), Sara (Ken), Ally (Seth) and Eryn. She was also tickled to pieces to get to see her great grandkids Carson, Madison, and Willow.
In return, we ask you to buy a flower for a friend, give a stranger a smile, or do a good deed with Joanie in mind. She had a beautiful life and will be thought of daily.
A celebration of her life with family and friends will be announced in the days to come.
Arrangements by the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, Powell OH. (614) 792-1471. Condolences to
