The last news from Grant's Army is, that it has left Chattanooga for East Tennessee. Osterhaus' Division is at Huntsville. Four Yankee regiments were reported at Cleveland, and heavy firing was heard in the direction of Athens on the 4th, supposed to be a battle between Wheeler's Cavalry and the enemy.
List of killed, wounded and missing in the 37th Regt. in the battle of Mine Run, on the 27th November, 1863:
Co. A - Killed, Lieut. Charles F. Thomas - Wounded, private John R. Sharrett in shoulder.
Co. B - Wounded, private James Estep in arm, Missing, James Shelton, Samuel McVey and Daniel Short.
Co, C - Wounded, Lafayette Gilmer, in hip.
Co. D - Killed, Thomas Snodgrass. Wounded, William H. Melver in hip; James Coots in. hip.
Co. E - Missing, Andrew Rouse and John Pearman
Co. F - None
Co. G - Missing, Sergt. W. A. Kilgore
Co. H - Killed, John C. South. Missing John W. Rhea and John R. McCracken
Co. K - Wounded, private Edward Kane. Missing, Corporal Lilburn Ferren.
The missing are supposed to be wounded, with the exception of James Shelton.
The following is a list of casualties in the 48th Regt. Va. Infantry, in the engagement near Bartlett's Mill, on the 27th ult:
Co. A - Sergt. Thomas Tomlinson, missing in action
Co. B - Killed, Corpl. James H. Wise. Wounded, Capt. John M. Preston in thigh severely; private Frank Grace in leg slightly. Missing, private George H. Maiden, supposed captured.
Co. D - Wounded, private William T. Wolfe in thigh.
Co. F - Missing, private John M. Minnick, supposed killed.
Co. G - Missing, private ----- Martin, supposed captured. Wounded, private Emory A. Gobble in chest slightly, since voluntarily returned to duty.
