Soto/Aguada, Puerto Rico

I would like to identify the parents/family of Francisca Sotomayor (aka Soto), b. abt. 1750-55, Aguada, PR. She married Diego Ruiz, and died between 1826-30. She was listed as a widow in the 1826 marriage record of a son, and as deceased in the 1830 marriage record of another son. It appears that her burial record has been lost or destroyed.

In some of her children's marriage and death records the name appears as "Soto" and in other records it is "Sotomayor" or "Soto mayor."

A review of the Aguada Marriage Book #4 (1819-28) revealed two Sotomayor marriages. Two Sotomayor brothers married two Ruiz sisters. These may be relatives of my ancestor Francisca Sotomayor (aka Soto).

page 5 - 2 Feb. 1819
Clemente de Soto-mayor, leg. son of Francisco and Paula Vadillo, with Catalina Ruiz. leg. dau. of Dionicio and Juana Galloza.

page 93 - 3 Feb. 1824
Paulino de Soto, leg. son of Francisco and Paula Badillo, with Maria Monserrate Ruiz, leg. dau. of Dionicio and Juana Galloza.

POW/MIA Korean War SOTO

I am searching for the family of a soldier that was lost in the Korean War. When he entered service he gave Pima County, Arizona as his home of record

Soldier: ANTONIO MOLINA SOTO
Born: 1925
Date of loss; September 1, 1950 MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Lauterbach family is one of those families that has not been located

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (77 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
hgdavis@bellsouth.net

Looking for half uncle, mother: Sapapa father: Jess M. Soto

I found out during my 2005 family reunion that my grandfather, Jess M. Soto (he may have gone by another name, the only two names I know of at this time would've been Jesse Lara or Jesse Soto) was married prior to marrying my grandmother. The story is that he met a woman whom he married, she was from Ohio and he brought her to Texas, her name was Sapapa. She had a daughter before marrying Jess and then her and Jess had a son together. I'm guessing he would've been born prior to 1942 because she was very ill and passed away around 1942 in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas. I was told she's buried there but I haven't located her at this time. Nobody seems to know what happened to the children after Sapapa passed away. I'm not sure if Sapapa was her name or just the name she went by. Jess went on to enlist in the Army and then married Emma in 1944. Jess had five sons (one died at birth and the other when he was a teenager) and three daughters.

Jess was born in Bexar County, Texas in 1918. His father was Jose Maria Soto (his birth name was Joseph Mary Roco, that's another story) and he was born in Refugio, Texas. Jose went by the name Joe Soto Sr. and Joe Lara and he had several children and later raised his family in Richland Springs, Texas. The mother of Jess was Eloise Medellin.

My grandfather Jess M. Soto Sr. passed away in 1989 but his children are still living. Any help to find their half brother (my half uncle) would be greatly appreciated!

Renee' M. Soto Williams

I am the grand-daughter of Eliseo & Ysidra Soto, who lived and worked in San Pedro California. They owned 2 restaurants and what used to be the Globe Theatre. My father is Ramond C. Soto born, Miami Arizona. My grandmother was born in Zacatecas Mexico and my grandfather I am not sure of. Both are of Spanish descent and my grandmothers maiden name was Caldera/descended from the Mariscal family. I'd love to locate any long lost cousins, aunts uncles in the California or Arizona.

Cora Miller Stinson Stovall SOTO

Cora Miller, born 24 Oct 1901 or 24 Nov 1902, in Missouri to Caleb and Alice Mercer Miller. She married Ambrose Clark Stinson 1 July 1919. In the 1930 census in Oklahoma, they had four children, Ray, Marie, Lavina and Clark, Jr. Lavina died sometime after 1930. Her husband, Clark, died sometime during the early 1930's, we think.

Cora disappeared sometime around 1935 or 1936. She went on a date to the movies and never came back. With her children abandoned, our family figured she had been murdered.

However, in 1940, we just found a Cora Stovall, who looks exactly like our Cora, who married Joe Soto in Bakersfield, CA. Joe died in 1964.

Cora died on 8 Feb 1971 near Bakersfield, or at least somewhere in Kern County (is there a city of Kern?). We would really appreciate a copy of her obituary, if there was one, and any other information, if it happens to be available. Also, we would greatly appreciate any contact with possible descendents.

Hope you can help, and thanks!

Nancy
Portland, OR

Does anyone know the ancestry of Othon Soto of Placido, Texas, originally of somewhere in Mexico? He had sons, Natalio, Juan Timo, Lorenzo, Epifanio, and Rodrigo. His father lived somewhere in Mexico and was originally from somewhere in Spain if the information is correct.
Obit. SOTO, ARMANDO V.

SOTO, ARMANDO V. Born August 26, 1908 in Sonora, Mexico, passed peacefully on March 11, 2003 at home with his devoted wife, Georgia by his side. Armando and Georgia were wed in Yuma, Ariz. in 1931 then moved to San Diego to begin a new life. Armando was an accomplished artist and classical pianist. His strong work ethic and good mind for business served him well as he prospered in many businesses up into his eighties, when he finally retired to care for his loving wife. Their mutual love for their pets and fond recollections of earlier travels to Europe and Asia sustained them through these quiet years. Armando ' s legacy is carried on in his daughter and son-in-law Stella and Gallo Cortez, and three generations of grandchildren. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Alicia Medina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Armando and Georgia are longtime parishioners of St. Rita ' s Catholic Church and wish to express their gratitude to Monsignor Pattison for his prayers and visitations throughout his recent illness. A special thank you is also extended to Sharp Hospice Care for your efforts on behalf of Armando and family. May God bless you all. A Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Conrad ' s Mortuary, 7387 Broadway, Lemon Grove. Mass will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2003 at St. Rita ' s Catholic Church, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 3/13/2003.

Hello ~

I need any info on Bertha Soto who was my close friend's real mother. My friend, Wendy Jorgenson was adopted when she was a sick baby, living in Canan'ea, Sonora, Mexico. Wendy's parents that raised her have died so she really wants to meet her birth mother and any siblings by this Christmas 2003! Wendy was adopted by Ruth and Wendell Jorgenson probably in the year 1966. She is 37 years now. Any helpful info is appreciated! Thank you, Shelley Stratton

Mothers maiden name

I am seeking any information on my Mothers side of the family. All I know is that her parents were, father: Maximino Soto, mother: Vicenta Morales, and my mother name was Maria Soto. She had two sisters, I do not remember ones name she lived in San Antonio, Sara, and a brother, Felix Soto both lived and died in Corpus Christi, Tx. All have passed on. Sara had a son Joe (jose) Soto. Maria married a man about 20 years her senior named, Santiago Fuentes. My uncle Felix had three daughters, Maria luisa, am not sure of the other two, and a son. Not much, but my family was not much into talking.

only2nd@yahoo.com
