Soraruf Family of Campitello

My great-grandfather was Luigi Soraruf, b. 1867 in Campitello, which is now northern Italy but was once Tyrol, Austria.

Luigi and his brother, Jacob, settled in Ironwood, Gogebic County, Michigan. Their brother Battista came to the U.S. for a short time but returned to Campitello, where their branch of the family still lives.

On his marriage license, Luigi gave his mother's name as Teresa Presilla but another relative has it spelled Teresa Spignol.

He gave his father's name as Cristano Soraruf. Family lore says Cristano remarried after Teresa died and that he had another son named Barttma.

Some of the Soraruf families changed the spelling of their name to Sorauf. Another branch of the family, although we don't know yet how they're connnected, spell the name Soraruff.

Would love to hear from anyone else who is also researching the Soraruf, Sorauf or Soraruff families.
