Well here we are in 2012 and I am going to add to some of your info on the Soper/Sofield chronicles. My name is Audrey Sofield/Barber and my greatgrandfather was Alfred Sofield from Wellsboro, PA and his father was John Sofield, born somewhere in NY but lived and died and was buried in Wellsboro. I recently had the opportunity to go to Wellsboro to do some research and I went to the recorders office to get data on his real estate activity. He was also the Justice of the Peace for 4 years before joining the Union Army in 1862. In doing my research I found about 5 documents of his and there were many Sopers in there too. I am thinking that there was a connnection between the Sopers/Sofields that you mention and my Sofield. Any info would be appreiciated. california4biz@yahoo.com
