Surnames: Son
I'm trying to get a few straight.
Micheal Son was married three times?
Is it documented that Rev. John Son. 1797 TN was his son?
And James Monroe Son b. 1830 is the grandson of Micheal?
And this James had a son named Joseph?

There is possible info that this Joseph had dealings with Garret at the Moniteau Historical Society. Most likely a deed.

There are way too many things that connect these two Son families.
Michael son was born in Abemarle county, VA. so was Garret's wife Amelia.
Amelia's father traveled with the Lewis and Clark expedition.
This would cover the area of TN and KY that Michael was in. All of this area in 1790 was part of VA.
Both John Son and Garret Son were born in TN per 1850 and 1860 Mo census' within a couple of years of each other.
They were in the same counties at one time.
Joseph H. Son married a Harris.
Grandville Farris Son married a Harris.
The Harris' lived near a Farris family in Cooper county.
At one time Morgan, Moniteau, Cole counties were all part of Cooper county.

Now for the main thing, Son is not a common name. Given the migration patterns of the times, what are the chances that this surname shows up in the same general area and are not related?

I belive that John Son b. 1797 and Garret Son b. 1799 are brothers.
If this is correct, then Micheal Son is Garret's father as we thought all along.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
