Hi,
My name is Pia Gindeberg, by august next year my name will be Pia Gindeberg Solander.
My fiancée and I come from Denmark, where Solander is a very uncommon name. I have always understood that the Solander name came from Sweden i.e. from the botanist/naturalist from the 18th. century Daniel Carl Solander who went to Australia and New Zealand with Captain James Cook, and who also has some islands in New Zealand and a cape in Australia named after him.
I would be interested in hearing whether any of the American Solanders (and Gindeberg for that matter) come from Denmark or Sweden? Or is the name of German origin as I have seen elsewhere?
