I've been contacting other Sohls on the Internet and comparing notes and trying to establish a thread that ties many of us together. My branch is not related to the Sohls that came to PA in the 1700s, to the best of our knowledge and through research with out genealogist who has traced our family branch back to the late 1500s, but there are quite a number of holes we're still trying to fill and will keep working on this. Many of the Sohls I correspond with may quite probably be descendants of of the siblings of my great grandfather Johann Christoph Sohl (Sohle) from the Uelzen area of Germany in Niedersachen. Would enjoy hearing from Sohls to compare notes. There is a branch of Sohls from Hessen province, rather than the Hannover province and they may not be related to our branch. Our genealogist in Germany maintains that all Sohls in Germany are descendents of a Sole who came to Germany from the Netherlands in the late 1400s. This remains to be proved, but would love to find out. Let me hear from you, no matter where your Sohls are from in Germany. It's always fun to touch base with other Sohls. Arlo D. Sohl Beatrice, NE
