Catherine Ives Sobers
HARPURSVILLE — Catherine Ives Sobers, 81, of Harpursville died Saturday at Wilson Medical Center.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sobers had been an inspector for Bendix Corp. in Sidney.
She was a member of the Harpursville Baptist Church, Senior Citizens of Eastern Broome, Alice Rebekah Lodge H19, and the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local of Sidney.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth Ives, and her second husband, Alfred Sobers.
Mrs. Ives is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Vesta Ives of Harpursville; her daughter, Eileen Kane of Freeville; three granddaughters, Billy Jo Pitarra, Kendra Ives, Jennifer Kane, all of Harpursville; two grandsons, Dan Kane of Harpursville and Jimmy Kane of Freeville and one great-grandchild, Raven Pitarra. Dear friends, Melvin Pierce and Baker Meek, and several cousins also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Harpursville Baptist Church, Cumber Road with the Rev. Michael Rowe and the Rev. William Fowler officiating.
Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Osterhoudt-Leopold Funeral Home, Harpursville.
Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Harpursville Baptist Church or BethEll Chapel, Harpursville would be appreciated.
