Looking for Sobanski's in Poland (Circa 1915-1944)

Classification: Query
Surnames: Sobanski
My Grandfather was born in Poland circa 1915. His name was Alexander Sobanski. His mother's name was Helena (unsure of his fathers). He had a younger sister, younger brother (I believe his name was Zygmund) and an older brother.
My grandfather was in boarding school in France during the Second World War and we believe his older brother, mother, father and sister were killed in the mines during the Nazi occupation.
His brother we believe was still alive in the 60s (my mother remembers her father having contact with his brother Zygmund who was still living in Poland when Alex and his family were living in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, Canada).
We believe his brother ended up moving to Canada at some point and adopting a child with his wife.
Any more information on my family would be appreciated. I know I don't know much but my mother has never known anything about her family and we would like to have some idea of where we came from.

Thanks so much!
Bethan
