Soames from Hitchin, Herts, England 1700-1810
Trying to trace family and ancestors of Nathaniel Finch Soames, christened 1806 in Hitchin. The IGI indicates his parents were John Soames and Sarah Filler (or Fillar).
Nathaniel married Sarah Buckland in 1827 at Newington in Surrey. They had at least 5 children, including Caroline Eleanor Soames (my G-G-Grandmother). When Caroline married Richard Mitchell Crutchley in 1849, Nathaniel was a coal porter.
If I have pieced together the right details, the line appears to be: John Soames m. Mary Ramsey children John (c.1740), Diana (1740), Mary (1742), Sarah (1745), Ann (1747).
John Soames m. Sarah (Cook ?) children Mary (1765), John (1768), Sarah (1772).
John Soames m. Sarah Filler (or Fillar) 8 Sep 1769, St.Mary,Hitchin. children Ann (1787), Elisha(1789), Dinah (1790), Sibella(1792), Anna Maria (1795), Martha (1795), Sophia (1797), Elizabeth (1798), John Filler (1800), Sarah (1803), Caroline (1805), Nathaniel Finch (1806)
Nathaniel Finch Soames m. Sarah Buckland 28 Jan 1827, Newington, Surrey. children Caroline Eleanor (c?), John Alfred (1833), William Daniel (1835), Maria Sarah (1839), Nathaniel Finch (1841).
Caroline Eleanor Soames m.Richard Mitchell Crutchley 2 Jan 1849 St.Martin in the Fields, Westminster.
If anyone can verify, add to or amend any details I should love to know more.
Regards, Bob Swan

Hello
I certainly can help.
My great great great grandfather was Nathaniel Finch Soames, who had a son John George James Soames born 1842. So that makes you a fourth cousin.
The Soames family tree is ALREADY on the ancestry website, c/o my new third cousin John Cattermole, so to see it just search on John George James Soames.
Are you in the UK ?? John Cattermole and myself are.
Have you any certificates, for example, for the marriage of Sarah Buckland and John Soames in 1827 ???
I had seen the various Soames names on the LDS' website, so you have done a lot of work to connect them.
For interest, JGJ Soames had a son, named Nathaniel Finch Arthur Buckland Soames. So this neatly links JGJ with his mother's maiden name.
Look forward to more contacts
Liz Goldring (great grand daughter of Ruth Soames)

Liz, I'm curious too. Apart from our initial exchange I have had no further contacts on this query (Nathaniel Finch Soames). Best regards, Bob Swan

Hi Bob,
I think this Edward Chadband is a relative of mine, via my Dad's mothers side of the family and he has somehow got hold of me via the Soames message board, rather than the Chadband side.
I am really hoping that this person is my Dad's cousin.

Perplexed by route you e-mailed me ???? However, yes, I am trying to re-establish contact with the Chadband branch of my family tree who had emigrated to Canada in the 1950's.
I am the only granddaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Green (nee Chadband) and am named after her. I live in the UK.
The family consisted of Ernest Arthur George CHADBAND, wife Iris and their two sons, the elder being Edward Chadband.
If this information matches you then it's easy to corroborate: just tell me your date and place of birth and the name of your brother.......
