My ancestors owned land in the Witt Community area of Hamblen County. From about 1830-1866 this area was known as Snoddyville, complete with a Post Office(aka Snoddy's Cross Roads, aka Wittsville). In 1871 my Snoddys owned about 216 acres in this area with a Mansion house and barn near a road called(back then) Bulls Gap Road. Other landmarks include a spring called Sulphur Springs, a road leading to the spring, a stone house, and a railroad line that crosses the road to Sulphur Springs. I suspect the land was near the present-day intersection of Sulphur Springs Road and Old Witt Road, south of Morristown, north of White Pine. If I had a specific address I would love to go there and take pictures of the property.
