COLUMBUS: Richard Edward "Dick" Snide 80, of Columbus, Ohio, died Thursday, April 30th, 2015.
Richard was born to the late Amos C. and Marie Snide September 28, 1934, in Crooksville, Ohio. (Perry County)
He graduated from Columbus Linden McKinley High School and received a BS from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio and MA in Education from The Ohio State University.
For 37 years he served as an elementary school teacher, principal and Director of Federal and State Programs for the Columbus Public Schools, and as a consultant to the Ohio Dept. of Education.
Richard retired from service as a Major in the Ohio Army Natl. Guard after 22 years.
On August 15, 1984, he married Sandra Jean "Sandy" Rogers in Columbus, Ohio.
Together they enjoyed many happy years filled with regular trips to Williamsburg (their favorite place to visit), New York City and to the beach.
Sandy preceded him in death on April 8, 2013 following a long battle with cancer.
Richard was a positive, active person and was passionate about helping neighbors, friends and church members whenever he could. He was a handyman to anyone who sought help. He and Sandy shared a love for Broadway musicals and the Columbus Symphony.
Richard is survived by his brothers, James (Fran) of Kettering, Ohio, Robert (Kathy) of Lancaster, OH; four children: Susan (John) Guzzo of Fort Mill, SC; Rick (Cindy) Snide of Westerville, Ohio, Cynthia (Bill) Evans of Massanutten, VA; and Thomas (Lisa) Snide of Dublin, OH;
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
