ZANESVILLE: Betty Arlene Montgomery, 85, of Zanesville, died at 5:28 P.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born February 13, 1927, in Zanesville, Ohio a daughter of the late William and Nellie Snelling Steed.
She retired as an assembly operator from the Lear Corporation, and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess for many years.
She was an avid golfer for Lear, was a Senior Bowler at Sunrise Bowling Alley, a member of Senior Citizens #1, and she loved to square dance.
Surviving are two daughters, Becky Lynn (Wayne) Hughes, and Donna (Mike) Hampton, both of Zanesville; three sons, Roy (Pam) Montgomery, Robert A. Montgomery, and John B. (Becky) Montgomery, all of Zanesville; a sister Wanita Shaw of Heath, Ohio; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Montgomery; a daughter Faye Johnson; and brothers Billy, Harold, and Arthur Steed.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, 105 South 6th Street, Zanesville, with Rev. Joe Seese officiating.
Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
