There are occurances of Huntington's Disease (Chorea) in my immediate family. I suspect my father, Carl Lawrence SNARE, 1900-1993 had symptoms. This is a genetic disease so I am interested in any SNARE/SNAIR history of symptoms.
CHOREA was the generic name given to the disease for many years.
Chorea is related to movement disorder caused by continuing brain damage resulting in death. Usually 15-20 years after symptoms developed. It was and still is incurable.
Pennsylvania is where most of my ancestors were born. I image some would have been institutionally housed as the later stages require continual care.
Please... If any SNARE/SNAIR fimily histories or stories mention Chorea, mental illness, Huntington's Disease or deaths related to that could you please drop me a line?
All offspring of a HD genetic marker have a 50/50 chance of getting the gene and it always gets worse in each generation. So could be unnoticed in a parent but show up in the offspring.
The information is for researchers working on a cure for this rare disease. Thanks so much!
