FYI, when preparing the Snagg tree. The Snagg name poses some difficulty due to the history of slavery and slaves having the surnames of their owners. So, for obvious reasons, even though Canaoun is a small island, everyone with the name Snagg is not related. In fact, far from it. In comparison, the deRoche name, which was not from a slave owning family, it is easier to trace the connection.

I discovered this myself. I have maternal cousins named Snagg (through heir fathers side) and later learned that my great grandmother was also a Snagg (though my mothers side). I assumed everyone was related. Not so. On my maternal side, my great grandfather, a deRoche, had married an Eliza Snagg, the daughter of Henry Snagg and great grandaughter of James Snagg. There was no relation between my cousins father's Snagg family to my (our) great grandmothers Snagg family. So, beware...
