Hugh's 1863 marriage record says he was a farmer from Crossdernot and that his father is Robert. Crossdernot is split into 4 smaller locations including Corkhill, Crossdernot and Drummond. Each of these places has about 15 plots of land.
The only Smyths/Smiths listed in land records in Corkhill and Crossdernot in 1829 and 1851 were James and Robert. In 1860, Robert fell off the map and the land records showed James in Corkhill and Crossdernot, and Andrew Hazlett Smyth and son Thomas George Smyth in Drummond.
I don't know where Hugh lived in Crossdernot in 1863 when Robert died but I figure it was with Andrew or James. Hugh's wife in Jane Booth. There were Booths in Drummond from 1829 to 1911, neighbors with Andrew and Thomas.
