Mrs. Katie V. Smoak, 52 years and wife of John w. Smoak, owner of the Smoak drug store at 39 East Bay streets, died at 6:10 a.m. this morning at her residence at 1624 Hubbard street, after an illness of five years.

The body will be taken to Flemington tomorrow morning for funeral and interment tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Seashole Funeral Parlors, on Riverside avenue.

Mrs. Smoak had returned last week from Asheville, N. C., where she spent the past year and a half in a sanitarium. She is survived by her husband, two children, Marie, 16, and Verna May, 14, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Green and Miss Jennie Payne, of Ocala, one brother, Daniel Payne, also of Ocala, and her father, M. L. Payne, of Fairfield, Marion county.

Mrs. Smoak was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, South, and with her husband, came to Jacksonville eight years ago. Prior to moving to this city, Mr. Smoak was engaged in a general mercantile business at Flemington.
