Seeking any info on Alexander Smith (believed but not proved) son of John Smith. Alexander married Polly Porter Barnes of Bourbon Co, Ky (possibly elsewhere??), they had a son Alexander who married Betsey Miller of Millersburg, Ky, they had dau Martha Woodson Smith who m: James Riddle Sanders of Millersburg, Ky. Never sure of the family story that Alexander was a son of John Smith till Mother-in-Law died, found an old sea scope (no nails or screws, but pins in it), brass, beat up & dented with engraving "Day Night Scope London, England John Smith, Commander" I kind of believe that ole story now, but NOT proved, but circumstantial evidence seems to lead that way. Have found Alexander in Bourbon Co. but not marriage or proof of relationships.
