Since your family moved to Arlington, Va. there could be a connection with our families. Do you happen to have any Smallwoods in your famiky that married Biggs?

Our Biggs families moved to Arlington, Va. Levi Biggs married Maria Smallwood in 1821 in Wash., DC. They were both from Maryland. The Biggs families moved to Arlington around the 1920's. I would imagine the Smallwood's also moved to Arlington

no we no biggs in the family the smallwoods i am refering to are from arrington va in nelson countythrow me for a loop too aslo thought it was arlington when my grandma told me

I have a copy of General Smallwood's painting. copies are at the art gallery in Phillidelphia, Pa. Their is ext. information on him and the Smallwood family.

I'm hoping people are still checking this message board, some of the messages look a year or two old. I'm working on a possible connection between my family lines on my mother's side (who have lived in the Prince George's and Charles County areas of MD since before 1700) and the smallwoods. I'm told by a relative that she saw the name mentioned several times in connection to our family, however she only has our family tree done back to about 1750. I understand the the Smallwood's landed in MD around 1664. If anyone has any information that could be sent electronically I would greatly appreciate it. My thought is to trace the smallwoods as best as possible down to the point where they might intersect with my family.

My ancestor is Col James Smallwood (1639-1714) of Maryland and was married to Hester Evans. His son was James (1668-1723) who married Mary Boyden. Their son was William (1710-1768) who moved to North Carolina. Any help or clues you have would be MUCH appreciated!
