I just did a quick Google search for "James Small" and "Rebecca Gilkey" and I found the following site:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pattyrose/...

If this is correct, the parents of your James Small are Joseph Small (1702-1777) and Mary Libby (1695-17540, my g-g-g-g-g-g-grandparents. I knew they had a son named James, but I didn't have any information on him.

As I wrote, "James Small was the son of my ancestors, Jeremiah Small (abt 1786 - 1846) and Jane Frank (1786 - aft 1866)." So if there is any relationship to your James Small and Rebecca Gilkey (and there may well be, since they all lived in Gray), it would be more distant.
Hi, I am new to this research lark and so have only just found your message. The chances are that you have already got the info I am going to tell you.
Sylvester Small, born 1804, had a son, William, who married Sarah Higgins on Sept 29 1851 at parish church in St. Philip and Jacob, Brisatol. They lived in St Philips and Sylvester was a labourer. I think they also had Henry, Mary Ann and Eliza.
Until recently I had thought that the William mentioned was my great great grandfather but I am now having doubts.
This family tree research can be so frustrating!
Hopefully this is of some use to you and please let me know if I can help further but the last time I trieds to reply to a message board reply I could not do so , so it would be a help if I had your e-mail address.
Best wishes
Hilary Jones

It has taken me along time to come across this post. I'm sure you have a lot of information by now. I am the 2xgreat granddaughter of John "Jack" Small. Eliza Firkins was born Staffordshire England. I have a certified copy of her birth certificate and the certificates of the three oldest children; John William, Mary Elizabeth and Agnes Harriet. John "Jack" Small was born in Warwickshire, England. I am in the process of trying to get a copy of his birth. My line of decent is:
John Small 1840-1903
Charles Small 1873-1945
John Small 1899-1933
James William Small 1928-2000
James William is my father.
Are you related to Rick Ritchie? What is your line of decent in the Small family? It is nice to find a family member that is researching the same family as I am. Hope to here from you soon. Hope it does not take you as long to find this message as it did me.

Sandy Small Sutherland

Are the pictures on your computer? If so you could email them to me as an attachment.

Your great grandfather, Owen Small, had a sister, Catherine, who was born in Massachusetts in 1848. She was in the US Censuses for 1850 and 1860, but we can't find her after that. According to her mother she was living in 1900. I assume we lost track of her when she got married but haven't been able to locate a marriage record for her. Any information on her would be appreciated.

What information on my side of the family are you interested in - I'd be happy to provide it if I know it.

Josephine

I spoke with my brother last night, and he said the uncle that dissapeared was Billy not Elmer. He said our mom remembered visiting Elmer in a military hospital as a small child. She was fond of Uncle Billy and named one of my brothers after him. Billy lived with my grandparents until he dissapeared.

How did you get this imformation on Elmer? My mother always said he dissapeared. My mother was John and Theresa's only child. My mother had seven children. I am the middle of my family. My mother's name was Mary Rose DeGallo. How do I get to talk to you to see what you have, and what I can help you with. I am still wondering about Elmer. It was my understending that he lived with my grandparents until he dissapeared. My mom always said he had the room across from hers, but if he died in 1926, she would have been only two or three years old. Ithought she was older when he dissapeared. How long have you been doing this research?

Yes that would be him. My brother Bill took all my mom's and grandparents pictures home to Arizona. He works out west. He said he will bring them back later this year. He thought you may be interested in some, as you my be able to figure out who some of the people are. Some appear to have been taken back east. I will look further into my moms things to see if I can figure out when William dissapeared.I guess that story always was interesting to me.My mom was born in 1923. I beleave she was around 10 when he dissapeared. My mom also went back east two times to help some relatives out. I think one was ill or injured.

Talbert was married to a WF, but I don't know if she was their biological mother. I have a great aunt who is still alive, and she new Talbert back in the day.
I too have though that Isaac might be Ephraim's father, but also nothing concrete to document the connection. I lived on the same road Ephraim traveled to get to town in Northwood for many years. I have been through all the cemeteries in Northwood and have photographed all the grave stones I could find. The house Ephraim's daughter Nancy lived in is still standing but is now in a sad state. Ephraim's son Moses was my ggf John N's father. Thank you for the response.
