John Ridley Small born Dover, Kent 1828, parents George and Jane. Any information please contact

my grandfather was george edward ridley small born dover kent 1886 His father was george and his was a john ??

This is all very exciting as I posted the message, as you can see, so long ago that I had given up ever receiving any reply!!

My line of Small's come from John Ridley Small's younger brother, Arthur Small born 25-5-1845. His father, and of course John Ridley Small's, was George Henry Small born Dover 2-8-1827. One of Arthur's sons, William John Small married and came to Australia. Hence my line.

I have a very detailed line from George Henry Small on until the 1901 Census. This I would be more than happy to send to you if you so desire. I have also made contact with people in England re the youngest child, William Snmall born 1850.

It has been very difficult to place the grandchildren etc. of John Ridley Small for unless they had obvious christian names I ran into a "brick wall". If you would be prepared to give me further information re your line I would be estatic. Unfortunately my grandfather, William John Small, either had no knowledge nor did not want to give information re his elder brothers and sister. I am inclined to believe the former as there was such an age difference. Also genealogy was not 'so fashionable'.

dear wilma my name is Christine and it is my g/father who was george edward ridley small. 1886 his father was george albert small 1862. as the story goes his father had 7 brothers who all went to different countries in the world. l will ask my mother if she can go father back . l know the family has always lived in Dover. my g/father and his father were both whitesmiths. hope to here from you soon

l dont know as l have just started on ancestry.com. My mother seems to remember when she was a young girl(she is now 82)a man came to her grandfathers house looking for the Small household he was from America. he was looking for desendents of a abraham small. and she remembers talk about an Admiral Ridley
