Corning, NY- Alphonse (Pasquale) Smaldone passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013.

He was born to Celeste Smaldone (Dachille) and Pasquale Smaldone of Brooklyn,New York on May 22, 1939.

He is survived by his three sons, John (Sharon) Smaldone of Medford, NY; Chris (Suzann) Smaldone of Port St. Lucie, FL; Andrew (Robin) Smaldone of Big Flats, NY. He also is survived by his grandchildren: Jonathan, Alexandra, Christopher, Nicholas, Anthony and Olivia. He is survived by his sisters Isabelle and Mary Ann.

He was predeceased by his sister, Fran.

Al was born and raised in Brooklyn,New York and grew up going to Ebbets Field watching his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. He spent his summers on the beaches of Coney Island. He began his trade as a window cleaner in downtown Manhattan in 1962. He continued this trade for 45 years. He enjoyed stops along the way to Long Island,NY;Florida; and South Carolina, until ending up in Corning in 2008.

Some of our fondest memories are that of crabbing, clamming and fishing on the Great South Bay; enjoying those special weekend treats of homemade pizza and calzones and seeing him squeegee the front windshield of the family station wagon, which meant it was drive-in movie night. Later in life he enjoyed the sunny afternoon days of coffee in Corning's Centerway Square with his closest friend, Jen, who took the very best care of him. He will truly be missed and was loved by all.

Services will be announced at a later date.
