I just started tracing my family tree today. Somewhere I have information buried about the Smacks you mentioned. They are on my family tree.I will start searching for anything I have. If I cannot find it, I can ask my sister in Colorado who has more info than I do.

Were you ever able to find the Smacks in your family history that correlate with the names I posted earlier in the year?
Any info would be appreciated.

I can't help you specifically with the names in Tarrytown, but know that my family decended from the Rochester, NY area. I believe that line is from a William Smack who owned a candy store in Rochester in the late 1800's. Seems to me my uncle has traced that line back to the Netherlands...will let you know more when I speak to him.

I may be the Christian connection you are looking for.My father left me notes about Christian family being buried at Terrytown.
I believe Christian and Stephen were brothers of John, as I have Dates of Birth and information on their children from a book I received from the library of congress written by Edward H. Jayne titled "Ancestry of the Jane Family of Long Island. His grandfather was Elijah Smack, a brother of William Smack, my great grandfather. His book also points to this connection.

Some information I gathered while trying to locate Stephen Smack's, born 1782 in New York, parents is as follows:
Christian Smack born 1760 marrried Mary Hass. Their children were:
Christian born 1784
Mary born 1786; married John Brewer
Eliza married Charles Hasting
Rachel born 1804, married John Mollard
Catherine born 1805
Harriet born 1809
One of the Christians died May 6, 1847
Sorry I don't have any more- if you can help tie Christian to Stephen, I would appreciate the information.

The Stephen/Christian relationship.
