I am researching the Sloane family tree and would like to find the baptism records for James Sloane b about 1820 and his siblings and also the marriage of his father Bernard Sloane (I think maybe to a Sarah).

James Sloane was born about 1820 in London, was a sailor who married Phillis Woodgate. The marriage certificate states he was a sailor and so was his father Bernard Sloane. Both James and Phillis's address on their wedding day (19 August 1849) was Hughes Fields in the Parish of St Giles.

On the 1841 census Phillis Woodgate was living at 47 Clement Lane, The Strand, London.

I have also found an entry on the 1841 census for a Sloane family living at 24 Clement Lane and I am wondering if this was James's family and he was away at sea (as James & Phillis would then have been neighbours).

On the 1841 census, the mother's married name is Sarah Sloane b 1786 ( married & head of the house) and with children Margaret Sloane b 1818, Charles Sloane b 1822 and Elizabeth Sloane b 1824 (who married James George Barrie /Barry on 9 April 1849 and her father is shown as Bernard Sloane, sailor) and were living with Sarah Sloane on the 1851 census (but now at 170 Drury Lane)

I am aware of a Bernard Sloane b 1813 a sailor who travelled on HMS Beagle with Charles Darwin who's father was also named Bernard Sloane & was a sailor and I am wondering whether James Sloane b about 1820 and Bernard b 1813 were brothers?

It would make sense that if Bernard senior, James and Bernard were all sailors that they could all have been at sea at the time of the 1841 census.

I have searched Ancestry London Parish records & have been unable to trace any baptism or marriage records to confirm if Sarah was Bernard Sloane (senior)'s wife and if the children Bernard, Margaret James,Charles & Elizabeth were all siblings and their children.

Would be pleased for any help/suggestions where to look next.
