This is great--thank you so much!! I have cousins living near Wallace, NC, and I am a direct descendant of this Sloan family.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Dallas Herring (who was also probably a distant cousin of mine!) on a couple of occasions when in North Carolina visiting family and researching my roots. He was a real Southern gentleman--and he had a very old portrait of yet another of my ancestors (Thomas Carter of Nanticoke, VA) hanging on his wall. The look on Dr. Herring's face was priceless when I blurted out: "Hey-this guy is my ancestor!" LOL!
