Maybe I can supply you with some detail as well!

Floris Slabbert who came to south Africa as stated by other emails on here actually came as a soldier of the Dutch Oost Companje and was occupied at first as a soldier. He died within ten years and that was when the son also "Floris" was given the farm in Tijgerberg as refered in other emails as a grant of gratetude for the service by the deceased father!

I have some more should you be interested!
My surname is Leeuw however my Graet Grandmother was Gertuida Anna Slabbert that came from the easter cape. Ironny is that I have just about every other Slabbert in South Africa and Netherlands and a lot in Belgum for about 550 years on file but I could not manage to find the father of my grandmother, or shall we rather say I could not find proof of who her father was. Obviously some suspisions but ??? She was married to Hendrik Leonardus Koppeschaar! at around 1899 in South Africa, probably Middelburg Transvaal!
