Aurora, Preston Co., WV is more than just a crumbling field! It is a very small community, but a community none the less. It has a school, a fire department, a resturant, a gas station, a library, an insurance business, and most important, at least to genealogists, is the Aurora Area Historical Society which is located right on Rt. 50. It is an old store building that has been converted. They have a library where you can do local research and a nice museum of local artifacts. The people there are very interested in anyone doing research on local families and very helpful. Here is their address if you would like to write to them or contact them. They put out a quarterly newsletter and membership is only $5.00 per year if you want to receive their newsletter. I am a lifetime member. Address: Aurora Area Historical Society, 23976 George Washington Highway, P. O. Box 100, Aurora, WV 26705. Check it out. Claudia
