My maiden name is Skaar. My branch of the family came from Norway in the mid to late 1800's. I've been to Norway and found that Skaar is a very common name. I have been told that all the Skaar families in the US share common ancestry.

My grandparents were Iroll and Gladys Skaar of Northfield,MN. Are you related?

I have contact with some relatives in Norway on both my grandparent's sides of family. My grandfather was Alert Solaas who came to America and changed name to Albert Solberg. My grandmother is Olga Eikelid Skaar. In those days people took their name from their father and also from the kommune they came from. It has been very interesting learning about this.

No, not all the Skaar's are related in the US. The Skaar family from Thief River Falls, Minnesota had taken the name here in this country. They were not Skaar in Norway.
Thanks,
Angela
