Hi Barbara,
Skaar means "rocky crevice" in Norwegian so I'm sure many places share that name. My great . grandfather, Samson Skaar, came in Brooklyn, NY in 1922. He was from a small farm on the island of Tysnes, south of Bergen. There were other farms nearby and those people, not related, were named Skaar also. My family and I have visited Skaar numerous times..it is beautiful. My great grandparents retired back to Norway and built a house in Skaar. We still have the family farm there, run by my second cousin once removed, Ole Skaar.
