Shoholm/Johannesson - Gräsmark, Värmland Sweden > MN, USA
My great-grandfather, Andrew Gustaf Shoholm of MN and CA was born in Gräsmark parish, Värmland - according to the 1890 census.
But he was not recorded as "Sjoholm" at that time... His name was Anders Gustaf Johannesson.
Here's his Swedish family: (Father) Johannes Pettersson, born 1829 (Mother) Brita Olsdotter, born 1840 Jan Peter Johannesson, born 1871 Anna Stina Johannesdotter, born 1873 Anders Gustaf Johannesson, born 1876
They live at the farm 1/4 Långkärn Holmsjötorp. The name Sjöholm could have its origin from Holmsjö.
Andrew came to the US in 1900 and settled in Polk County, MN.
I know all US descendants - looking for any Swedish cousins out there....

That is a very nice offer to help look for Swedish Cousins. Wondering if Anna Stina Johannesdotter (not sure if she took Shoholm name or whether she married) had any children. I'll send you an e-mail soon with details to see if you can help with these Grasland people. Also looking for Lindberg and Forsman families.

I guess I'm missing the connection? My Johannesson/Shoholm was from Holmsjotorp, Grasmark, Varmland and born in 1876. Glad to share, but I don't see a connection.

Re: Shoholm/Johannesson - Gräsmark, Värmland Sweden > MN, USA
Not sure we have a connection but have you heard of an Emil Johannesson born in Stockholm, Sweden that travelled with his brother to United States and they both jumped ship? . My grandfather Emil ended up in Georgia and changed his name to Johnson. We heard his brother (possibly Howard) went another way (maybe Minnesota.) Just trying to find some cousins out there. Any help would be appreciated.

I have cemetery photos of Andrew and Annie and Infants Sjoholm if you are interested. Not sure if you live in the area or not!
