My father's grandfather immigrated around 1883 we believe in the Fort Dodge area. He is either from Malmo or Landskrona and writes about a sister he stayed with in Iowa. His name was Alfred Seaborg and his father was Jons Arvidson Sjoberg. An email depicting any familiarity with these names would be a start for me.

Do you know if your grandfather Alfred had a brother named Eric or Erik Albin Seaborg? If so, your grandfather might have been my great-uncle.
Eric/Erik was my grandfather, and he immigrated to this country from Sweden. I understand that Eric/k and his brother paid their passage to this country by becoming indentured servants and working for some uncle on his farm - which I seem to recall might have been located somewhere in Iowa. After their 7 years were up, my grandfather eventually settled in Minnesota, and I was told his brother went to North Dakota. I think the name of the town my great uncle settled in was Gascoyne, North Dakota (or something very similar). I vaguely remember visiting him in Gascoyne sometime in the 60's, perhaps 1965, on one of our trips across country to visit my father's family in Minnesota.

Re: Sjoberg family from Sweden
My maternal ggf was either Oliver/Olaf/Nelson (?) Sjoberg (not sure of variations). Family tradition is that he immigrated to Canada from Scandinavia, then moved to South Dakota (maybe North Dakota?) married Glendora aka Glennie Watson. They had two daughters - Alice Mable (my gm) and Lydia. Alice married a John or Jack R. Williams and moved to Washington State. Jack was a miner. He left Alice shortly after my aunt was born. My Dad never talked about him. He was very hurt and angry. Does anybody have any information based on these very general facts? My Dad's name was Donald J. Williams and my aunt was Agnes.

My grandmother was Ingeborg Desideria Sjoberg, she had a sister Astrid. Alfred may have been her brother? I have information that Ingeborg had sisters, Stina, Elisabeth, Elsa and Mimmi. And brothers Rudolph and Gunnar. I believe she came from Orebro, Sweden and her parents were Karl and Clara. Karl was a shoemaker. Ingeborg married Fredrik Anderson in June 1903 and they had two children named Gunnar and Stella (my mother). Ingeborg and Fredrik came to America and lived in Chicago. Ingeborg was born October 10, 1876 and died December 29, 1915. A year after my mother was born.
