My maternal grandmother was Henrietta Lourenda Sizelove, a sister of Fred Essig Sizelove, Sr. She married Vernal James Sebring and settled in Lake Stevens, WA, where I grew up. I remember stories she told of her childhood and her siblings. Her mother, Sarah, was 13 or 14 when her father married her off to John Henry Sizelove, who was traveling in their wagon train. Mr. Sizelove asked Sarah's father to let him marry one of his daughters, and the father said he needed Mary, an older sister, to take care of him, so Mr. Sizelove could marry Sarah.
