Classification: Query
Surnames: Siwek & Krzyskow
I am running into major roadblocks trying to track down the history on my father's side and would appreciate any help I can find. My grandparents are both still alive but are not able to communicate effectively, nor did they speak much about their history throughout their younger years. The little bit of information I've heard is listed below. If anyone knows of this story or possible relatives, alternate spellings of names, etc. I would greatly appreciate hearing about it!

*Michael Siwek
-born around 1926 in Poland (location unknown)
-1st name may not have originally legally been Michael
-we believe he managed to escape the Holocaust & later fought in the war for an unknown army
-immigrated to New York after the war ended; lived in Queens early on, moved later to Long Island where he remained in various locations (Uniondale, Farmingdale, Massapequa)

*Sophia/Sophie Krzyskow
-born around 1928 in Poland (location unknown)
-the family farm was taken over & used as a hospital/headquarters for German soldiers when she was an early teenager
-the family was split up between concentration camps but she & 1 brother ended up at Treblinka; the brother died after being shot trying to escape climbing over a fence/wall; she was permitted to live because she was Polish/Catholic & not Polish/Jewish & was forced into labor
-immigrated to New York sometime after the war ended; ran into Michael around Glen Cove, NY where they originally settled (who she apparently knew somehow from Poland), married him & lived with him at all of the locations listed above for Michael
-together they had 7 children
-Michael worked as a machinist & Sophie as a caregiver (mainly for the elderly)
