I found your post re: sittler family. yes, this is all correct information. The Elias connection has been pretty much handed down through the generations. No one to my knowledge has found anything on paper. The closestI have seen is an 1860 Penn. census listing William sittler and mother Catherine. I have found reference to Elias Sit(t)ler in several states-(Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio), but have not found any paper trail to connect him to our William.

My paternal grandparents Dale and Phyllis Sittler (Baker) were from IN, around the Silver Lake/Fort Wayne area. Dale's paternal great grandfather was (according to my records) Elias Sittler, whose son was William, and had a grandson named Cloyd Truman Sittler... possibly Larsh's brother? I know it's been some ten years or so since you posted this but if you have any information, I'd love to receive it!

I've posted the information I have on wikitree here:
http://www.wikitree.org/index.php?title=Ryan_James_Sittler
I believe that this Mary E. Sittler is my husband's g-g-grand-aunt Mary Sitler.

Mary Sitler's parents were Jacob Sitler, born in Pennsylvania about 1815 and Sidney (last name unknown), born in Pennsylvania about 1820. They moved to Shelbyville, Shelby County, Illinois before 1865 (family is on the 1865 Illinois census). It is likely they moved before 1851 as the oldest child was born in Illinois in 1851.

Mary's siblings are:
Thomas J Sitler, born Jan 1851 in Illinois
Henry Sitler, born 1855 in Illinois
Francis A Sitler, female, born 1857 in Illinois
Emma C Sitler, born Jun 1859 in Illinois
Sally Sitler, born 1861 in Illinois

I am searching for more information on the Sittler family that settled in Wheaton, DuPage County, Illinois that may have branched out from there into other counties. My name now is Connie Tillotson. My grandfather Alber John Sittler is the son of Aloysious Sittler whose father is Oswald Sittler as far as I can determine. Oswald had a brother by the name of Martin and a sister by the name of Louise and a sister by the name of Philomena or other spelling.

August Sittler's obituary - Pike, IL

Pike Co. Democrat, Pittsfield, Pike, IL, March 9, 1910: "August Sittler, a pioneer of this city, where he had resided for over fifty years, died at the family home on North Monroe street, Sunday night, aged nearly 74 years. Mr. Sittler had been quite feeble and in poor health for the past year or two and by his last illness, a complication of diseases, was confined to his bed for several weeks before death relieved him of his sufferings. The deceased was born in Huelenthal, Prussia, June 15, 1836, and came to this country in 1853, stopping at Quincy and from there went to Kingston, then to Perry, and in 1858 to Pittsfield, where he has since resided and been engaged in conducting a shoe shop. He was married in 1861 to Caroline Reineke, and to this union 10 children were born, by all of whom and their mother, he is survived, his being the first death that has occurred in this large family. Of the children, all of whom are grown, there are three sons and seven daughters, all residing in this place. In addition to their own ten children, the deceased and wife took Dan Reineke, a nephew, when a small child, and reared him to manhood. The children are as follows: Frank, Charles and Elmer Sittler; Mesdames Lizzie Kern, Hannah Kern, Nora Coliver, Nellie Winant, Ada Heck and the Misses Leta and Mildred Sittler. Funeral services, at which Rev. H. W. Brandt officiated, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the house and at 2:30 at the German M.E. church, of which he had been a devout member for many years. He leaves one brother and one sister, both of whom were present at the funeral; they are Christopher Sittler and Mrs. Julia Gicker, both of Kingston, IL."

(I am not related to this person.)

My great-grandmother was Caroline Sittler/Sitler Stout who married Jeremiah Stout. She had a sister Catharine who married Christian Waidelich. Both of these women moved from Lehigh County PA to Pickaway County, OH. They had a brother Elias Sitler, who was born about 1828. He appears in the Illinois census for 1900 in Vance Township, Vermilion Co. Parents of these three were Johnathan and Magdalena (Mary) Straub Sitler. She died and is buried in Pickaway County Ohio. Her estate is #0-2710 in the Pickaway County Probate Court Records.
