Sybil Irene Sirak, age 90,
of Girard,Erie,pa,
died Tuesday, January 25, 2011,
She was born in Potsdam, N.Y.,
on October 13, 1920, a daughter of the late James Perry and Blanche Evans Kingston. Sybil attended various public schools in New York State prior to moving to Erie's west county area, ultimately settling in Fairview Township where she raised her family. In addition to her roles as mother and housewife, Sybil had employment with Lord Manufacturing, Erisco Wire Products, Poly-Tronics and Sunburst Electronics. She enjoyed having her family on hand for holidays and summer picnics and travelling throughout the U.S. with her husband.
Sybil was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph G. Sirak,
two sisters, Mildred Kingston and Shirley Schneider and her son-in-law, Robert Heiges. She is survived by three children: Sheryl Heiges of Waterford, Nancy Rothrock and her husband Bob of Mentor, Ohio, Joseph Sirak and his wife Cynthia of Girard; two grandchildren: Melissa Koma and her husband David, Joseph Sirak and his wife Michelle, all of Girard; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Peyton and Dawson Koma of Girard; a sister, Betty DeMichael and her husband Richard of Girard; as well as two nieces and a nephew. The family of Sybil Sirak wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for the dedication and services of the staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor West during her stay there. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Burtons All Faiths Chapel with Rev. Darrell Greenawalt of Girard United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
