ZANESVILLE: Clarence R. 'Bear' Simmons, 68, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born January 7, 1945 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Leonard Simmons and Lillian (Holbert) Howe.
Bear enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He also was a dedicated Zanesville High School Blue Devils fan of both football and basketball.
He is survived by daughters, Teresa (Stephon) Saunders and Teresa Rembert; brother, Victor (Cheryl) Howe; sisters, Carolyn Mann, Becky (Virgil) Johnson, Vanessa (Gary) Harrison, Shell (Frank) Wiseman and Rita Howe; five grandchildren, Jessica Mayle, Kenny Mayle, Kristan Simmons, Dante Rembert and Terence Rembert; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and two friends, Conni Matz-Tolliver and Ella Croston.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Everett Simmons and William Simmons; step-father, John Howe, Sr.; two, brothers, William Curtis and John Howe, Jr. and sisters, Edith Howe and Susan Howe.
Viewing will be Tuesday, October 29, 2013 beginning at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 12 p.m. at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 536 Moxahala Avenue. Minister Keith Wyatt will officiate.
