Hello,

I'm looking for immigration records for my maternal grandmother's grandfather. He immigrated from Portugal (I'm not sure if it was Azores or not) in 1860 according to census records. The first census records I can find of him shows him as Louis Silvey in 1870, living in Chicago. In 1880, he is Louis Silva, living in Oakland, CA. In 1900, he is Louis Selby.

I'm not sure if Silvey is his original last name or not! But he was born in 1838 and died in 1906. He married Bridget Delia McCann sometime between 1868 and 1870, and they had about 15 children, if I've counted correctly. My great-great grandfather was Louis P. Selby, jr, born in 1873 in Illinois. He passed in 1952.
