I'm trying to go further into the lineage of René Sigault (1867-1914), my great great grandfather. Here is what I have:

René was born in France in February, 1867 to Clement and Eugenia Sigault. He was a wine grower according to his passenger manifest, and arrived at Castle Garden in New York on 14 September 1891 aboard 'La Bretagne' from Le Havre. Not sure how long he remained in New York, but would move to the Saugus/Lynn, Massachusetts area north of Boston before 1894. There he married Matilda Bailly on October 13th, 1894 in Saugus. She was born in New York, New York, in 1878, the daughter of Alexandre V. Bailly (9 November 1838- 26 February 1898) and Matilda L. Vildea (1846- ), both of France as was her brother Emile (1865-1948). The Bailly family were involved in the local shoe manufacturing industry, while René worked at the time as a Morocco dresser (preparing the leather for shoes). It's likely through work or by family introduction that he and Matilda met. Matilda was 16 and pregnant at the time of the marriage, and would give birth to Henry Eugene (his grandmother Eugenia's namesake) one month later, on 16 November 1894 in Saugus.

The marriage would not last, as I find René next in the 1900 census as a divorced boarder residing at 17 River Street in Lynn, Massachusetts, working as an iron molder. He's listed in the 1903 Iron Molder's Journal (Volume 39) as a union member of the Lynn & Salem chapter of the I.M.U. of N.A. He died 14 December 1914, his death certificate lists no known family information entered by his attending physician, who treated him for about five weeks at Lynn Hospital for lobar pneumonia. He was 47, and buried at St. Joseph's cemetery in Lynn.

Matilda would later remarry, I believe Henry Eugene was René and Matilda's only child.

I cannot seem to place René or his parents anywhere in France. Any help would go a long way.

Thanks
