Would be interested in hearing about Stephen and Abram. I really am at a loss on connecting my Isaac with any of his siblings and parents. I am aware one has to use a lot of caution when researching. I have come across many mistakes in my research and it almost makes me wonder if I have made mistakes. I like to have quite a few documents to have the proof of who I am researching but then still with caution.

Thank you and if I can help you in any way please let me know.
As all sources, be a little cautious when using Vol. 11. Some of the Sickler information just seems not well researched here. ssickler4@gmail.com

Be glad to share what I have on Stephen and Abram.

Any connection to Isaac P. Sickles b 1805 in New York State. Can't find nothing on him. I have been doing this a long time and am wondering why I can't go passed Isaac. Don't know his siblings or parents names. Have all his info when he got married and came to Canada. Wonder if this could be a connection.
John P Sickler b abt 1803

I am looking for any information available on the John Peter Sickler Family from Coeymans Hollow, Albany Co., NY. He was married to Permellia (surname unk.) abt 1828 in Coeymans Hollow. The pair never left their farm/ I lost track of John after the 1880 US Census. He was nor on the 1900 Census.

He and his wife had 3 children that I could find, Isaac, Sarah and Louisa.

Isaac b abt 1829 had 4 children, Mary b 1847, Alfred b 1850, Mary Ann b 1853 and Elizabeth (Libby) b 1868. The only record of his marriage in being listed as a widower in the 188 census/.

Sarah b 1843, married Isaac Winston in 1864 and died in 1900. The couple had 2 children, Benjamin b 1864 and Samual b 1866/. They moved to New Scotland, Albany, NY in 1868.

Louisa b 1847. I’ve found nothing else about her

I am told by the Coeymans Hollow historian that the records from the Dutch Church in the area were destroyed.

What I need are the ansestors of John P. The Census records back then didn’t list any but HOH. I would also like his wifes’ surname. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Can anyone help.

Additional information.

Last night, while looking for more information, I stumbled upon a Peter Sickler, b 1802, in Duchess Co. What made it interesting is that he was married to Permelia Wall. Could Peter and John Peter be the same person.

Vince Castelli
Vjcastle@hotmail.com
?Rosa Emily Sickler McRoy

My GG was Maud Mary McRoy Johnson. She was adopted when she was eight because her mother had died. I have been searching for information on her mother for about 5 years now. The only thing I could come up with is her name shown on a marriage cert.for my GG sister as Emily Sickler. She is shown as Rosa McRoy in an 1880 census for Conklin,Broome County, NY (The McRoy's had family there). The census states that she was born in PA, as was her father, her mother was born in England. The church records in Hallstead, Susquehanna, PA show her dying on 3/31/1888 and listed as Mrs. Rose McRoy. If anyone has information on her Sickler family I would greatly appreciate a heads up.
rideaholic@comcast.net

Hi:
I was raking a bit at the Lehman Cemetery and just wanted to mention that I noticed Merritt's stone there, standing by the paved road in the cemetery, shaped like a tree trunk with a scroll unraveled on it. I was drawn to "Sicker" because my great, great grandfather was Ziba Sickler, and I think Merritt was his brother.

Sickler, LaVerne Amish..

I have been trying to track down the Amish culture part of My Sickler Family since my dad used to tell me stories as a kid. LaVerne is my grandfather. I come from Gilbert, Gilbert W., Charles, Harvey, LaVerne, David, then me :) Well, I spoke with my aunt and she has a Sickler bible (to my surprise!) and My grandfather and his brother, Lee were born into the amish culture as SIMMONS. LaVerne married Dorothy in the amish culture and had a deaf son. Apparently, this was not allowed in their culture, so LaVerene and Dorothy were kicked out and thus changing his last name to Sickler. I would like to know if anyone has any more information on this? I wont be able to get my hands on that bible until June of next year. How does a person go from being a SIMMONS to SICKLER but still have the same family history? I'm so confused... I am trying to figure this out!! Anyone?? Help!!!

Elizabeth C Sickler Born 1872 in Prussia

I am looking for any information on Frederick W. Philipp, born 1861 in Prussia (married to Elizabeth C Sickler, born in 1872 in Prussia) Frederick became a citizen in 1892. Had sons George J. Philipp (married to Ruth Hildebrand)and Karl H. Philipp (married to Ida Hildebrand). Also had a brother that died very young named Fred, Jr. rumoured to have a step or half brother named John Philipp.
Frederick had three brothers and two sisters (only known potential names Otto and possibly William).
William W. Lappeus

DIED.

Saturday morning October 5th, Wm. W. Lappeus, father of J. H. Lappeus, in the 77th year of his age.
The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from his late residence, corner C and Seventh streets. Relations, friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

***********************************************************

SUDDEN DEATH--About 10 o'clock yesterday forenoon, Mr. W. W. Lappeus, father of ex-Chief of Police James H. Lappeus, fell into an epileptic fit at his home in this city. Mr. Lappeus, in the early part of the day, seemed to be enjoying the best of health, and was in excellent spirits. Only a few minutes before his death he was laughing and talking. He carried a bucket of water to the back porch to clean out some bird cages, and while walking along he was suddenly seized with the fit and fell to the floor. He never spoke, but died almost instantly. Mr. Lappeus, we understand, had been subject to epileptic fits for some years. With the exception of this affliction, he enjoyed splendid health. Medical assistance was invoked immediately, but the vital spark had forever fled. Deceased was 77 years of age. He was a kind hearted and affable old gentleman, and much respected by all who knew him.

newspaper clippings--name/date of newspaper(s)unknown

Thanks Pam M.

William may have a connection to the Lewis, Hughson, and Goewey families of Schodack, N.Y.

Donald,

I just caught this thread as I've begun to research the Sickler line of my family, and I see that you have a Solomon Sickler from Woodstock in yours. I'm a bit puzzled at this point (on my part), because on a Widow's Pension Petition that I copied from the National Archives in DC, it states that Solomon Sickler was the father of Mary A. Sickler, but I'm not quite sure if her mother was Priscilla, because there's not mention of her mother in this particular petition. Perhaps she was dead at this point.
