A wedding of interest to their many friends in this city and Hartford, Connecticut, will take place their [sic] afternoon at 4 o’clock in Grace Lutheran church, Hall and St. John streets, when Miss Ruth Sibbach, of Hartford, daughter of Mrs. Mary J. E. Sibbach, of 1032 South Seventh street, and the late Charles H. Sibbach, becomes the bride of Henry C. Barber, son of Mrs. Margaret Holinka, of Hartford.
The ceremony will be performed in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends by Rev. Phares G. Beer, pastor of the church. The church will be beautifully decorated with palms and mixed cut flowers.
Preceding the nuptials an organ recital will be played by Winfred G. Baker, organist of the church, and as the bridal party proceeds to the altar he will play “The Bridal Chorus” from “Lohengrin” by Wagner, and for the recessional he will use “The Wedding March” from Mendelssohn’s “Midsummers Night’s Dream.” Mrs. William S. Hudders will sing several selections during the ceremony.
The bride, who will be given in marriage by her brother, Harold E. Sibbach, will wear a white Grecian satin gown made on simple lines with a cowl neckline, long flowing sleeves and an unusually long train. Her long tulle veil, which extends over the face, is held in place by a cap. She will carry a bouquet of white roses and lilies-of-the-valley.
She will be attended by Miss Carrie M. Steiner, this city, as maid of honor, who will be attired in a yellow celanese organdie gown with a yellow maline hat and accessories to match. Her bouquet will be of tea roses and blue delphinium.
The bridesmaid will be Miss Maryann Tracy, of Hartford, who will wear a blue celanese organide gown with a small satin and tulle hat and accessories to match, and will also carry a bouquet of tea roses and blue delphinium. Little Junerose Sibbach, niece of the bride, will be the flower girl and will wear a pink silk dress and carry a bouquet of mixed flowers.
The bridegroom will be attended by Earle Walbert, of this city, as best man and the ushers will include Kenneth Bohner and Robert Heiberger, also of Allentown.
Immediately after the wedding, a reception for the bridal party and immediate families will be held at the home of the bride’s mother. The couple will leave for Hartford on Monday where they will make their home.
Miss Sibbach, who is a native of Allentown, received her education in the local public schools and was graduated from the Allentown High school with the class of 1929. She is a member of Grace Lutheran church and for the past several years has been living in Hartford.
Mr. Barber, a native New Englander, was graduated from the Immaculate Conception school of Hartford in 1929 and at present is employed as a draftsman by the Model Airplane company, Hartford. He is a member of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, Hartford.
