Interested in knowing if anyone has any information on Luigi and Nicoletta Siano from Naples, Italy - would have been born around 1890. Settled in the Springfield Massachusetts area.

My sister, (Barbara Danenza), and I have more family information on the Siano's, especially on the greatgandparents.
By the way, we might be related. Did your father live on the farm in Belchertown with Papa?

Hi Frank,

I am sure we are related, but I can't remember you for the life of me. I know your sister and saw her a few years back at her work in Chicopee. I remember uncle Frank and aunt Louise and hold them in the highest regard. Here goes - I am the only son of Angelo Siano (John) who's brothers were Matteo (Mutt), Mario (Mondo), Ernie and Billy and sisters were Louise (your mother?), Margaret, Yolanda and Dolly. Of course, I knew granpa Luigi well and Nicoletta died at a young age - well before our time. I know very, very little about our great grandparents. What's up?

Hi Louis:
Well, we are certainly cousins. My father was Frank DiSanti and my mother was Louise, your father's sister.
It's been many years since I left the Springfield area. I left there in 1959 and have spent most of the time since then here in Maryland. The only one I stay in touch with is my sister and I rarely venture back to Springfield.
Just for future reference, I live very close to the National Archives and the Mormon family research history library in Washington, D.C. They are less than a 1/2-hour's drive from where I live. If you ever need any reference/research done there, let me know.
Barbara and her husband Bill (Danenza) still live in Chicopee.
Just by coincidence, she and her husband were here this weekend, travelling back home from Florida. She would like you to get in touch with her. Her e-mail address is wudpooh@aol.com. I know that she tried to send you something via regular mail recently, but it didn't reach you. She has a picture of Papa and his wife (Nicoletta), and four small children - Uncle Mutt, my mother (Louise), your father Angelo/John, and Aunty Yolly. Also, I gave her a copy of Papa's application for Social Security, but I don't have a scanner for the computer. If you give her your e-mail address, she can send you copies of the pictures and the documents.
Anyway, my sister Barbara and I have been doing some of the family research and this is what we've found out about the Siano side of the family so-far:

Luigi Siano
b. 2-8-1889 (in Italy);
d. 1983 (age 94);

Nicoletta (Papaceno) Siano (Papa's wife)
b. 1894 (in Italy);
d. 12-30-1946 (age 52);

Mateo Siano (Papa's father):
b. 1858 (in Italy)
d. 10-22-1943 (age 85);

Louisa (Aniello or Raino) Siano (Papa's mother):
b. 1858 (in Italy)
d. 1910 (age 52);

Giovanni Papaceno (Nicoletta's father);
Maria Papaceno (Nicoletta's mother).

I think that most of the information we've recovered is accurate, but their is still some confusion over Papa's mother's maiden
name (Aniello or Raino). I'm still looking into that.
If you have any information at all on when Papa and Nicoletta emigrated to this country, I would love to know, because that is the next step that I will be pursuing.
I will be trying to identify when they arrived here, where they came from, the name of the ship, when they became citizens, etc. I believe Papa and Nicoletta arrived in 1902 and were naturalized as citizens in 1919.
I also gave my sister a copy of the 1920 census that shows the data on the Siano family at that time. I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing that. It lists the address (Lombard Street), members of the household, ages, citizenship information, education, country or origin occupation, etc. It's a wealth of information.
I hope you find this information helpful. Please stay in touch and get in touch with Barbara, she's waiting to hear from you,and I will certainly keep in touch.

Hi Frank,

Now I remember! Aunt Louise always called you "Brother" and that's the name I recall. I am not sure if we've ever met. I have some "metal boxes" of things from both Grandpa and my father that I have not had the heart to look through. I will open them and see what I find and certainly let you and Barbara know. I appreciate you contacting me and we will talk soon. Do you think that we should just use out personal e-mail rather than this message board? I am siano@nycap.rr.com. Lou

Naturalization papers

Greetings,
Guess what??? After receiving your emails it inspired us to drag out "the boxes of stuff" we had stashed away and haven't looked at in forever... We found that we have original naturalization paperwork on both Matteo and Luigi Siano. Please email us and give us your direct email address and I will scan this information for you to see.... Matteo Siano came to this country on April 20, 1892 on the ship Elisia. His Declaration of Intention was signed on December 18, 1906. His date of birth is stated as April 9, 1858 in Sarno, Salerno, Campania Italy. He was 48 years of age when he left Italy. Regarding Luigi, we have a Certificate of Naturalization stating that he was naturalized by the the Superior Court at Springfield on September 8, 1919 at the age of 66. We need to show you this paper because some of the information is confusing (dates, etc.) On Luigi, we also have, his death certificate which states his mother's name as: Marie Raino of Italy. It states his wife's name as: Nicoletta Pappaceno, although on Angelo's birth certificate dated January 26, 1939 (obviously a copy), it is stated as: Nicolina Papacini. Figure that one out! Anxious to hear from you.

Wow, I did a search on my name and your message popped up. Do you have more information on "Pappaceno"? I know that my Grandfather was born in France during my great-Grandfather's migration to the USA. Most of my family lived in New York and Connecticut.
