Andrew "Andy" Shychuk, 86, of West Newton, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 31, 1926, in Hutchinson, a son of the late Charles and Catherine Woryk Shychuk.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator by the Vitale Construction Co. out of Charleroi.
He was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 66 of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Nick and Stanley Shychuk; and three sisters, Mary Lucovitc, Helen Mahalsky and Ann Shychuk.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Naylor Shychuk; a son, Richard A. Shychuk, of Wyano; three daughters, Cindy Ankney and her husband, Stephen, of Mt. Pleasant, Michelle Batchko and her husband, Kevin, of Yukon, and Tracy Rohland, of Yukon; brother, Paul Shychuk, of West Newton; two sisters, Julia Lucas, of West Newton, and Dorothy Kopko, of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Michael Cuthbert and his wife, Dani, Stephanie Shychuk, Jared Rohland, Jaimee Rohland, Cody Batchko and Dylan Batchko; and a great-grandson, Damiyan Davis.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Glissan officiating. Interment will follow in Sewickley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, South Huntingdon Township.
