Re: Looking for descendants of Louis Edward Shurtliff

Hi Edith. The man Louis Edward Shurtliff you are inquiring about is my Great Great Great Grandfather. You have his exact birthdate, death date. His wifes name is Mary Jane Cartwright and all 10 children exactly correct. I have further detailed information on all of these people. Including birthdates, death dates, full names and such. The William John (Sr) you have listed in the list of children, is my Great Great Grandfather and it goes down from there to my brother William the 4th. I have deep detailed information on everyone you named if you are interested. Sorry this is quite a few years late but I hope I can still be of assistance to you in this matter. -- Elizabeth Shurtliff.

I am beginging the time-consuming task of creating a large family tree to print and frame and save for my familiy now and in the future. I also plan to add a book of interesting facts about my family.

In 2007 my aunt completed a short family book for me, but it's lacking in some area's to me.

Victoria is one of key interest to me.

Victoria was born on June 18, 1891 in Reykjavik, (KJOS), Iceland. She is the first evidence I have found of my families Icelandic heritage. She was known to have various dreams coming true. Victoria and her brother went with their father to America and her mother and siblings were supposed to join but her mother took ill and died. Victoria and her siblings went to foster care when her father was called to work in Canada. She had ten children
this is my line:
Victoria Sigiridur Tobiasson (1891 - )
is your 2nd great grandmother
Vasco Gilbert Windsor (1916 - 2000)
Son of Victoria Sigiridur
Pamela Windsor (1947 - )
Daughter of Vasco Gilbert
Roscoe Bryant Shurtliff (1966 - )
Son of Pamela
Alex Nicole Shurtliff
But this is what I have down to me.
Luman Andrus Shurtliff (1807 - 1884)
is your 4th great grandfather
Francis Marion Shurtliff (1851 - 1940)
Son of Luman Andrus
Daniel Ray Shurtliff (1885 - )
Son of Francis Marion
Richard Ballard Shurtliff (1912 - )
Son of Daniel Ray
Richard Bryant Shurtliff (1944 - )
Son of Richard Ballard
Roscoe Bryant Shurtliff (1966 - )
Son of Richard Bryant
Alex Nicole Shurtliff
I don't know how to reach Roger to answer a question. I am collecting into a cleaned up gedcom file.

My question - Looking for grandparents of Luman Andros, Jonathan Shurtleff and Abigail Lord (b 1744 Conn). Looking for sources for her parents. Could be William Lord and Tabitha Porter or Ichabod Lord and Patience Bulkeley. Wanting to document which ones.

Your both right! Luman Andros (or Andrus) was married 1st to Eunice, who died in 1845; 2nd marriage to Eunice's sister Altamira in November of 1845. He then married Melissa Adeline Shurtleff and Cynthia Noble Shurtleff Bent in 1849, during the migration to Utah. Then Mary Eliza Adams in 1854. Except for Cynthia Noble (who was Melissa's mother) there are descendants from all of these lines.

Merle Amanda Teachman

Merle Amanda Teachman was born Feb. 9, 1906 on a farm near Ceresco, Nebr. where she spent nine years of her young life. She was baptised and received into the Ceresco Methodist Episcopal church by Rev. R.N. Throckmorten, then the pastor, Nov. 15, 1914.

The fall of 1915 the family moved from the farm to University Place. And she transferred her (can't read) she was a member until her death November 4, 1921, 7:30 a.m. When she was taken ill in March 1920 she was a member of the Freshman Class in the Uni. Place High School. All these succeeding months she has borne her afflictions with patience and in a Christian spirit. When she knew the end was near she said to her mother that she wanted to go and be with Jesus. And a very short spell before she breathed her last breath here, she requested them to sing "Nearer My God to Thee." Urging the whole family present to sing and singing herself with them. Ah, as Wesley once said: "Our people die well." What a comfort!

She leaves to mourn her absence, Father and Mother, Mr. and Mrs. Teachman of Uni. Place and sister Mrs. Everett Johnson of Lincoln, Mrs. David Wood of Sutherland, Misses Mina, Inez, and Fern Teachman of Uni. Place and brothers Messrs. W.A. and Willard Teachman of Uni. Place, Nebr., and also a multitude of friends and relatives, many who attended the funeral services which was held from the home at 109 E. 19th St., Uni. Place by Rev. R.N. Throckmorten, her former pastor assisted by Dr. J.F. Robertson, pastor of First United Methodist church of Uni Place. The music was furnished by a quartet of young ladies from her class. The entire class was present in a body. The pall-bearers were also selected from the class. The hymns used were of her request and favorites. The floral presentation bespoke the love and sympathy in which she was held. The remains were interred on the hill in Havelock cemetery.
