Surnames: Shumate, Hanking, Reeder
I believe he is the son of William Shumate, farmer, born in Va. who was married to Nancy Reeder, born 1828. They lived in Carter Co. Ky in 1850. They had Mary Elizabeth, Francis M. and Eliza H.
Daniel was married to Selena Caldwell Hanking (1844-1929)
