After researching on my own and visiting a website(I don't know if I can reveal it without permission) I have discovered that the james shoemake of charleston,sc(1790) is not james shumate/shoemake, son of samuel or jean de la chuamette. They are, in fact, two different people with the same name living at the same time. james shumate/shoemake died in hapton county, va in 1795, while james shoemake dies in sc. I have also learned that blackely shoemake of sc, is a completely different person than blakely shoemake of sc, who are both living in the same area at the same time. it is also stated that james shoemake of sc, along with solomon and blakely are of no relation to other shoemakes living in the area. many thanks to the person who gave me this info through his web site.
